Compatible scales
The app reads the scale over your computer's Bluetooth and calculates body composition with the client data you already entered. You don't need a scale: skinfold assessment with a caliper works with no extra device.
| Scale | Status | What the app reads |
|---|---|---|
| ICOMON (protocol v107), for example the FI2001B-E | Compatible | Weight, impedance and segments (arms, legs and trunk). Tested with the real device. |
| OKOK (generic scales that use the OKOK app) | In testing | Weight and impedance, foot to foot. |
| Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 (XMTZC02HM and XMTZC05HM) | In testing | Weight and impedance, foot to foot. |
| Scales using the standard Bluetooth weight profile | Weight only | Weight only, no body composition. |
"In testing": the app can read this scale based on the public protocol documentation, but it has not yet been checked with a real device. The Xiaomi S400 does not work, because it encrypts its data with a key from the Xiaomi cloud.
No compatible scale?
Use skinfold assessment: you measure with a caliper and type in the values. The app calculates body fat percentage with the protocol you choose (Jackson & Pollock, Guedes, Faulkner or Durnin & Womersley).
Scale or skinfolds?
A scale is fast and gives repeatable results between assessments, but for a single person it can be less accurate than well-taken skinfolds. To track a client, always use the same method and the same device. The app never mixes skinfold and scale results in its charts.
